Introduction

GirlHacks 2025 is a 24-hour MLH sanctioned hackathon focused on empowering women and non-binary students in STEM, while welcoming all college and high school participants aged 18 and older. We bring together teams of up to four to create innovative projects, supported by industry mentors, workshops, and tech talks. Our mission is to foster an inclusive environment where diverse students can collaborate, learn, and showcase their skills, regardless of gender, education level, or institution. Tools and Technologies

At GirlHacks we encourage participants to learn new tools and technologies! There are no required technologies that hackers must use. However, for submission we do require hackers to submit their GitHub repository. If hackers need help feel free to reach out on Discord or ask any organizers. Additionally, we encourage hackers to try out technologies that are mentioned in different tracks.

The Challenge

Managing PTO requests can be chaotic, especially during holidays and summer, often

leading to coverage gaps and disrupted workflows. Within ADP, we are always looking

for solutions that support our client’s needs to quickly resolve PTO request and guide

associates to use them! We are asking you to help design an AI agent or tool to help

solve this real-world problem!

Your Mission

Develop a project that helps associates manage their PTO time. Here are some cool features / ideas you can include:
  • Proposes optimal leave windows – Suggests the best time for employees to take
  • PTO based on team needs and individual accruals.
  • Manages leave accrual – Tracks and updates leave balances for all employees.
  • Handles requests and escalations – Auto-escalates unaddressed leave request
What We’re Looking For
  • Smart AI Integration – How does your solution leverage AI models for forecasting and recommendations?
  • User-Friendly Design – Is your interface intuitive and engaging for employees and managers? Feel free to build an App, Website, or Web Extension!
  • Innovation – How creatively does your system balance business needs with employee well-being? What interesting tools did you integrate with?

Some Interesting Suggestions:
  • Application that integrates with google calendar to auto-insert your PTO.
  • Web app for associates to find out who will be out and suggest them times to take off.
  • Mobile chat bot that asks dynamic questions regarding their leftover time off and information about how much will carry over to next year.
